The McDonnell Douglas F-4E Phantom II is an advanced version of the US Air Force's F-4C/D fighter bomber, and is the first Phantom II to be equipped with a 20mm Vulcan cannon.

E-type aircraft from production block 48 onwards had their wing leading edge flaps replaced with leading edge slats, improving their air combat performance.

In addition, a TISEO target identification system was installed on the leading edge of the left wing, and an ARN-101Mod antenna was added to the rear of the fuselage.
