Take your models from clean out-of-box builds to near professional finished models by learning the fundamentals of painting, weathering, and topcoating. 

This course is an introductonary course for builders who want to understand how to paint their models, buy why different products and techniques work and behave for their applications. In addition, the intensive will cover weathering techniques that can add depth, realism, and character to a build. 

Outline of the course: 

  • Idenfity the major types of hobby paints and understand their basic characteristics
  • Select approrpiate paints and tools for different types of applications and projects
  • Properly prepare plastic surfaces before painting
  • Understand the importance of paint layers, drying times, and surface preperation.
  • Basic weathering such as scratches, dirt and grime

  • Recognize common painting, weathering, and top-coating problems and understand how to avoid them

  • Understand the purpose of gloss, semi-gloss, and matte top coats.

Prerequisite:

  • Already have experience in completing straight gunpla build, or completing a traditional kit with use of cement

What to bring to the class

  • Any completely built model kit is reccomended, but not required
    • Reccomended that model is top coated and ready to be weathered. 
    • Supplementary objects can be supplied for demos (such as plastic spoons
