The F-4U-1D Corsair was a US Navy/Marine Corps fighter plane used in World War II. The Corsair was equipped with an air-cooled engine (a method of cooling the engine using air), which was said to be the state-of-the-art at the time. This engine had a powerful output, and to make full use of this power, the propeller diameter was made large at 3.82m. As a result, if it was equipped with normal wings, the propeller would hit the ground, so the distinctive inverted gull wing (shaped like an inverted seagull's wing) was created. Thanks to this inverted gull wing, it was possible to increase the distance from the ground without making the front landing gear longer.
