Gunpla Fundamentals Instructor: Benjamin Chue

"My name is Benjamin Chue. You can call me Ben.

I have been obsessed with building Gundam since childhood, having constructed over ten different versions of the RX-78-2 alone. My passion for art led me to learn airbrushing in high school, which I quickly transitioned onto model kits. Although a move to Canada briefly paused my hobby due to limited supplies, I dove back in around 2010 and began competing online.

My dedication has earned several awards, including 3rd place in the HLJ 2013 'Playing with Plamo' (Intermediate), 2nd place in the 2017 Advanced category, and a Runner-Up finish in the 'Weathered vs. Clean' online competition. Most recently, my build 'Turn of a Tide' took 3rd place in the GBWC Canada (Over 21 category). The build represents the culmination of my experience. While I value the fundamentals—clean nub removal, seamline work, water slides application and precision panel lining—I also push into advanced territory, like proportion modification, kit-bashing and complex diorama construction As an instructor at Argama Academy, I am excited to share these techniques. I look forward to building alongside my students, fostering their creativity, and sharing the knowledge I’ve gathered over the years."
